Deliverable

6-second video —
logo dissolve

Objective

A luxurious
shimmering-powder effect

Turning a mark
into light

The brief was to craft an elegant transition for the Île de Beauté logo. The animation had to preserve the brand's premium feel while turning a solid mark into a fluid, airborne cloud of dust particles that drift gracefully out of frame.

The complete six-second sequence — from solid mark to drifting light.

Not chaos —
a graceful dissolve

The hardest part was making the "dissolve" feel refined, not destructive or chaotic. Île de Beauté is a luxury beauty brand, so the transition had to read like shimmering powder or fine silk — never a generic explosion.

Three Steps to Dissolve

01

Preparing the Emitter

To make particles inherit the logo's exact colors and shapes, the logo layer was used as a Layer Emitter.

The emitter mode was set to "Layer RGB" so particles carry the vector's original brand tones.

A noise-based linear wipe animates where the breakup begins — letter by letter.

02

The "Beauty Pass"

Particles start small, grow slightly, and fade smoothly to zero opacity.

Auxiliary particles add barely-visible trails behind the main motes — adding density and a soft "haze."

A subtle Deep Glow and Camera Lens Blur create shallow depth of field as particles drift toward camera.

03

Particle Physics

Initial velocity was deliberately kept low to avoid a "pop" effect.

A low-frequency, high-evolution Turbulence Field gives the dust a floating, organic motion.

A gentle horizontal Wind force lets particles drift out of frame, as if carried by a light breeze.

A mark that dissolves,
not disappears

The final animation successfully bridges solid branding and abstract motion. By carefully controlling turbulence and particle lifespans, the logo doesn't just disappear — it transforms into a visual embodiment of the fine powders and textures associated with the beauty industry.

The work's success came down to balancing physics — wind, gravity — against aesthetics — shimmer, scale: the brand's premium identity stayed intact even as it dissolved.

The logo didn't just disappear — it evolved.
